Head Girls Basketball Coach

Position Description

The Head Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for organizing, developing, and leading a competitive, and values-driven basketball program. The coach will foster a positive team culture, emphasize athlete growth and development, and promote sportsmanship, discipline, and academic success while representing the school with integrity.

General Responsibilities

  • Communicate the CCES Girls Basketball program’s vision and expectations with athletes, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Girls’ Basketball Program (Varsity, JV, and MS grades 7-12).
  • Demonstrate a high-level knowledge of the sport, including player development, team development, and management.
  • Plan and conduct safe, effective, and developmentally appropriate practices and summer training sessions.
  • Schedule summer training sessions, team camps, in-season practices, scrimmages, games, and tournaments for all levels of the program in collaboration with the Athletic Office.
  • Collaborate with the boys’ coach to determine practice schedules, as in-season practice times rotate due to gym availability and may occur between 3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
  • Promote and support student engagement in the strength and conditioning program to enhance athletic performance, safety, and overall student wellness.
  • Ensure a commitment to academic success and partner with CCES faculty and school leadership.
  • Maintain equipment, uniforms (distribution and collection), and practice facilities.
  • Enforce school and state athletic association (SCHSL) rules and policies.
  • Participate in the CCES Coaches Leadership program and collaborate with other head and assistant coaches at required meetings.
  • Drive a CCES mini-bus (14 passenger).
  • Create an inclusive, motivating environment that encourages participation and improvement.
  • Support multi-sport athletes and promote long-term athletic development.
  • Emphasize goal setting, teamwork, resilience, and personal responsibility.
  • Support runners and their families through the recruiting process for those with the desire to compete at the collegiate level. Commitment to modeling the mission and values of Christ Church Episcopal School and its Episcopal Identity.

Education and/or Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading a basketball program
  • Experience mentoring student-athletes and promoting sportsmanship, safety, and academic priorities Must have a valid driver’s license

Applications

  • This is a part-time, stipend only position.
  • The season begins Monday, November 2, and runs through March 6th. Coaches and athletes have Open Season/Summer Training Sessions beginning June 1st through July 26. Basketball also has an open season opportunity in the month of September.
