Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative in the Emergency Department (ED) serves as the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring a positive and efficient registration experience. This role is critical in supporting patient flow, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all administrative processes are completed in a timely and professional manner.

 

Job Description

  • Greet and assist patients and families in a courteous and professional manner
  • Collect, verify, and update patient demographic information
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coverage accurately
  • Collect co-payments and process financial information
  • Obtain required consents (in-person, phone, or legal authorization as needed)
  • Scan and upload documents into the electronic medical record system
  • Complete patient registrations and admissions for hospital services, including the Children’s Pavilion
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Provide support across multiple departments within CHKD as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Skills Required

  • Strong customer service skills with a patient-centered approach
  • Knowledge of insurance verification and healthcare coverage (required)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Dependable, adaptable, and able to manage changing priorities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism
  • Comfortable working with multiple systems and technologies
  • Prior hospital registration experience preferred, but not required
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals
  • Shift: 3PM - 11:30PM

Education

  • Highschool diploma or GED required

 

Pay Rate

  • $25 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
