Gainesville Regional Utilities Short Description OT Infrastructure and Systems (virtualization, servers, platform support) Minimum $88,441.98 Maximum $132,664 FLSA Exemption StatusExemptSummary This position performs advanced, complex technical and analytical work to support a robust, multi-facility SmartGrid environment. Work is performed on-site and off-site in a secure, monitored environment 24/7/365. This role supports the reliability, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance of the bulk electric system and real-time operational systems including SCADA, ICCP, virtualization, and secure communication paths necessary to deliver energy services. The work requires a key technical expert who supports the design, security, administration, and optimization of operational technology and systems that support critical infrastructure. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory and design responsibility, and from lower classes by its advanced technical and analytical knowledge and skill in communication/data networks, virtual infrastructure and system security monitoring software.Examples of Work Designs, implements, and maintains secure, high‑availability OT network architectures (LAN, WAN, VLAN, SD‑WAN, wireless), including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, segmentation, and secure remote access for real‑time operations. Designs, installs, configures, administers, monitors, and supports highly available server, virtualization, database, and storage infrastructures required for SCADA and related OT systems. Supports regulatory compliance by applying industry standards and frameworks (NERC CIP, NIST 800‑53, DOE C2M2) to maintain secure configurations and operational processes, and performs vulnerability identification, risk assessments, audits, and support mitigation planning to reduce cybersecurity and operational risk in the OT environment. Supports incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning and testing, and Provides technical expertise during cyber incident remediation, and restoration. Collaborates with System Control, SCADA Engineering, IT Security, and vendors to implement secure, scalable solutions and maintain reliable OT communications.Examples of Work (continued) Researches emerging technologies, products, protocols, and standards to support network procurement, enhancement, and development efforts and assist with cost‑benefit evaluations for proposed tools, solutions, or enhancements supporting operational and cybersecurity objectives. Attends required training and travel to remote facilities as needed to support OT operations. Must be available to work during emergency situations. Other duties as assigned.Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems, network engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.Experience Four (4) years of experience in at least two of the following areas: data communications, computer networks, systems, or security, and communication‑related projects. Follows configuration control, change management, and documentation practices aligned with regulations. Communicates effectively with technical and non‑technical staff. Works independently and resolves complex issues in 24/7 operations. Maintains professionalism, integrity, and strong security awareness and the ability to identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks in OT environments.
